Note that Scouts do not provide a licence to use the Outlook desktop app to all users.
However, if you have your own licence, you can add the account in Outlook Classic mode.
Ordinarily, you should be able to add your Scout email without an issue via the standard “add account” feature within Outlook. There are a few tricks here first.
What to do if you already have a Scout email and it is the “primary” account according to Outlook?
You need to create a new profile.
1. Press the ‘Windows’ key + ‘R’ simultaneously
2. Type ‘control’ and press enter
3. Click on ‘User Accounts’
4. Click ‘Mail (Microsoft Outlook)’
5. Click ‘Email Accounts’
6. Highlight your Scout email account and click the ‘Remove’ button
7. If you get and error and the system won’t permit, go to the ‘Profile’ section below
8. Add your Scout email here
9. Click ‘Close’
10. Click ‘Close’ again, then start up Outlook.
Profiles
Profiles are a safe way to make changes to your Outlook within deleting mail, nor impacting other mail accounts on the system.
1. Click on the ‘Show Profiles’ window (from above step 7)
2. Change the radio button to ‘Prompt for a profile to be used’
3. Click ‘Add’ to create a new profile. We can call this “Scouts”
4. Enter your Scout email address on the pop-up. Note it is only necessary to enter your email address, other fields are not required.
5. Click ‘Next’. If your completed the steps above (logging in via Word) the system will find your account
6. If prompted, use the “sign-in” method
7. Click ‘Finish’.
Now when you start email, you will be prompted for which profile to us
Select the relevant profile (select ‘Scouts’ if you labelled it ‘Scouts’ in the steps above)
and then ‘OK’ and your email will start.
