Migration Instructions

All email users are required to complete the steps below using your temporary username

Notes
For staff: 
Your temporary username will be in the format firstname.lastname@team.sa.scouts.com.au. Note, your email address for communicating with others has not changed, this is a temporary username for login and password reset only.

For  Scouts SA volunteers: 
Your temporary username will be in the format membernumber@team.sa.scouts.com.au. Note, your email address for communicating with others has not changed, this is a temporary username for login and password reset only. 

  1. Reset password by visiting https://outlook.office.com via a web browser. 
  2. Enter Username: membernumber@team.sa.scouts.com.au and Temp Password. 
  3. When you get the option to add authentication, 
  4. If you have previously set up MFA, go to your Authentication App and delete the yourmembernumber@sa.scouts.com.au from your MFA app
  5. Then click on the 
  6. (optional) - log in and out of any additional devices, e.g. mobile phone email app, iPad/tablet email app, etc.
  7. (optional) - re-sync OneDrive folders to File Explorer.
  8. (optional) - update any bookmarks or saved links to existing files and documents.

Step 1 - Delete your existing MFA
If you already have MFA set up in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, make sure you delete the existing entry by clicking on it, then the ‘settings’ icon in the top-right corner then choosing ‘remove account’.
You must complete this step first to avoid issues when reconnecting later!

Step 2 - Reset Password
We strongly recommend completing the below on a laptop or desktop computer.
Open a web browser and go to https://outlook.office.com
Login with your username - similar to your current Scouts SA emal address with a different domain for now
Example:

Please note your email for communication has not changed - the new username is for initial login only.

Enter your username and next
Enter your password - this was texted to all members on Wednesday 18 February.

Your password reset is now complete

Step 3 - Setup Multi factor authentication
After logging in, click next which will ask you to keep your account secure.
Click next
If you already have MFA setup in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, make sure you have deleted your existing Scouts SA entry by clicking the settings icon in the top right corner then choosing remove account.

Follow the instructions on the screen to install Microsoft Authenticator (if required) then click next
Follow the instructions and click next

Using the authenticator app on your phone, point your camera at the QR code to add the account to your Microsoft Authenticator app, then click Next

An MFA prompt will be sent to your phone – enter the number provided on screen to approve the test MFA prompt

You will receive a Success message – click on Done

Congratulations! Your password and MFA are now reset, and you can now access your Microsoft 365 apps via the web browser (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
