Reporting Suspicious Email

If you ever suspect that you might have received a suspicious email, there are a number of ways you can report that email.
  1. Firstly, you can contact the IT help desk regarding any email that you find suspicious so they can offer clarification or escalate where necessary.

  1. Secondly, you can report the email to Sophos by following the steps below:
What is Sophos?
Sophos is a cybersecurity suite that Scouts SA has deployed across its MS365 resource to enhance their security infrastructure. This feature has been added in Outlook by default as a reporting tool to help improve threat analysis and block future threats for all users.

In MS365 Outlook (web, desktop, or mobile):

  1. When you open the suspicious email, please locate the "Report to Sophos" button within the email ribbon. The button is usually at the top right corner of the inbox.
Please be careful not to download any attachment or click through any link within the email. If you already have, before going through these steps, please immediately contact the IT help desk.
  1. Click through the button, you should get a notification on your screen like the image below.
  1. Click "Yes", and this should send you a confirmation message that the email has been sent to Sophos.
  2. If the email has not already been deleted, please go ahead and delete the email from your inbox and also your "Deleted items" folder.
  3. If the suspicious email you received is part of a Phishing Threat launched by Scouts SA, on reporting, you should receive feedback in Outlook thanking you for your awareness and reinforcing your positive behaviour.
