Resetting your MS365 Authentication
If you ever change your mobile device or by any chance no longer have access to your Multi-Factor Authentication, this article will show you how to reset this feature in your MS365 account.
- Login to your MS365 account by visiting the website, https://login.microsoftonline.com
- When the page opens, enter your username and password, in this order: membernumber@sa.scouts.com.au/password
- The next page you get, would prompt an activation process through your MFA authentication, that has been previously set up with your mobile number. See similar screenshot below:
- Select "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator right now".
- Select the options to either 'Text' or 'Call' your mobile number.
- You should get a notification to enter the code sent to your registered number.
- Once this is done, you should now have access to your office account.
- To reset your MFA details, go to the bottom Left-Hand Side of your account page like the image below.
- Click through the menu icon (...) and select "⚙️ Settings" as seen in the image below:
- While in "Settings", click though the "Privacy" option, then go to "Manage Privacy settings". See images below:
Clicking through "Manage privacy settings". should take you to your account profile, where you can make adjustments to all the services that your account supports.
- Continue reset process by clicking through "Security info".
- Once you are on the next page, you would have access to the details of your sign in methods as seen in the image below:
When you attempt to delete your old device, you would be prompted to authenticate your account again. Please select "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator" and repeat account authentication using your backup method.
- you can delete the old mobile device linked to your MFA.
- you can delete the mobile number attached to the MFA method - Not advised, because you usually need a backup method to access your account.
