Delete your existing MFA for Microsoft, then add a new MFA for your
Microsoft account.
This process is slightly
different across different authenticator apps. If in doubt, Google the steps
for your specific application.
There are two compulsory steps in this process, and other optional requirements (dependent on how you use and access Microsoft 365).
1. Delete your existing multifactor authenticator (MFA) from your MFA app
2. Reset your Microsoft password via a web browser
3. Add a new MFA account to your MFA app
4. (optional) – log in and out of any additional devices, e.g. mobile phone email app, iPad/tablet email app, etc
5. (optional) – re-sync your OneDrive folders to File Explorer
6. (optional) – re-share any direct links to SharePoint sites or OneDrive files
Step One: Delete Your Existing Multi-Factor Authentication
If you already have MFA set up in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, make sure you delete the existing Outlook account by clicking on it, then the ‘settings’ icon in the top-right corner then choosing ‘remove account’
You must complete this step first to avoid issues when reconnecting later!
Step Two: Login to your account
Once you have deleted the old tenancy account from your MFA, visit the website: https://portal.office.com and login with the details:
Password: temporary password that we provided you in an SMS on the 18th February
Click on ‘Next’ to start the MFA setup process
