Accessing a shared mailbox in Outlook classic using advanced settings

Setting up a shared mailbox in the Outlook desktop App

Launch the Outlook desktop App and log into outlook using your MS365 email and password for access.
If you do not have an email account setup in Outlook, you will be prompted to set up an account at first login.
If you already have other email accounts setup in Outlook, you will need to add your Scouts SA account as an additional account.













  1. Once successful, your account should appear as shown in the image below.

  1. To add share mailbox, click on the "File"option, usually appears on the main screen, at the top-left side.
  2. Click on "Account Settings".













  1. When in "Account Settings", click on your emailaddress@sa.scouts.com.au which will be highlighted, then click on "Change"

  1. Click on "More Settings" > "Advanced". 

  1. In the section that says Mailboxes, click on "Add" which appears on the right side of the screen.

  1. Next, enter the name of the mailbox (sharedmailbox@sa.scouts.com.au) and click ok.
Please note that you will only be able to add a shared mailbox if you have already been provided access to it. Please check in with your Group Leader regarding the need to access a particular positional mailbox or contact the IT help desk for clarifications.
  1. Next, close the page, click on "Apply", "Ok" and close the Account settings page to complete the process.
  2. You should now restart outlook by closing the application and relaunching.
Settings typically take approximately 5 to 15 minutes for changes to reflect in your Outlook app.
